Unified male lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez doesn’t bill Devin Haney as a problem to his dominance in the division. Moreover, he has recently belittled ‘The Dream’, accusing the rankers of poising him as the “fake” champion of the sport.

While Haney has recently been scrutinized for his calculative win against Yuriorkis Gamboa, Lopez has been constant in taunting the WBC lightweight champion. That said, Lopez also has his own version of the WBC franchise belt, which he boasts alongside the WBA, WBO, IBF, and Ring Magazine titles.

The 23-year-old loves to flex his prized earnings as he recently did it again in an Instagram live session. However, things turned vile after he mocked Devin Haney with his father Lopez Sr. in the social media interaction.

The father-son duo reminisced about an incident from their time in the amateur run and compared it with Devin Haney’s ongoing scenario in the professional unit.

Teofimo Lopez doesn’t mind mocking Devin ‘The Dream’ Haney

As per ‘Takeover’, he should have been the only WBC franchise champion, since he has beaten the A-listers.  Throwing verbal heat on Haney’s belt, Teofimo Lopez called it “funny.”

Talking about it with his father, he said, “You know what I just realized pop. You know the same s*** that happened with Carlos in the Olympic trials. When we won and they elevated the (Carlos) to fight in the Olympics. I just realized they did the same s*** with Devin in the pros.”

Meanwhile, Haney seems unbothered about his critics. He has appeared satisfied with his win over Gamboa. He has recently posted a short clip on Instagram, citing how deadly it is to get inside his radar.

Flexing his right-hand jab on Gamboa from the fight, Haney wrote in the caption, “ If you think it’s sweet, come get it.” Thus it was a clear alarm for his critics and challengers. A fight between Lopez and Haney makes sense at this point, and if happened, it can be one of the biggest lightweight thrillers of all time in the sport.
