As expected, Jake Paul delivered a swift finish to the Ryan Bourland fight, winning it via first-round technical knockout. However, now ‘The Problem Child’ is eyeing none other than Canelo Alvarez. While most people expected a similar outcome, no one expected the callout, evident from the responses from the public.

The Mexican superstar had previously expressed interest in fighting the influencer in an exhibition bout while appearing in a podcast with Full Send. Even though the date of such a fight was supposed to be after Canelo’s retirement, it seems like Jake Paul didn’t receive the memo. After Paul called out Canelo, Michael Benson shared the news on X moments later. Here’s what Paul said.

According to Compu Box, Jake Paul landed a total of 24 punches compared to Bourland’s mere four. So, in the post-fight interview with Ariel Helwani, a confident Paul let his emotions fly wild as he called out Canelo Alvarez. “Canelo, stop ducking. I know you want it. I’m repping Puerto Rico. You’re repping Mexico. So, it’s Mexico vs Puerto Rico. I want Canelo. I’m the face of this sport. Who’s doing more for boxing than me,” said Paul.

It’s worth mentioning that Canelo Alvarez is rumored to fight Edger Berlanga or Jamie Munguia on May 4 for the Cinco De Mayo weekend. While recent reports suggest that the fight talk with Munguia is moving forward, Paul thinks he would be a better match-up for Canelo. Despite that, fans weren’t convinced that Jake Paul was ready for Canelo.

Fan claims Canelo Alvarez was waiting for a callout from Jake Paul

As the tweet started circulating on the platform, fans didn’t wait long to hold a mirror to Jake Paul, highlighting his delusion. One user confidently announced that as a Puerto Rican native, Jake Paul doesn’t represent them. This, of course, was because Jake claimed he represented Puerto Rico in his callout speech.

Another user highlighted that Jake Paul hasn’t changed and is still fighting against aging opponents.

Someone else boldly claimed they liked Paul, but Canelo would destroy him like Paul demolished Ryan Bourland in the fight.

The next user jokingly claimed that all Canelo had been waiting for was Jake’s callout to accept an opponent.

With that said, Jake Paul indeed delivered an excellent performance against the former Golden Gloves champion. However, does that qualify him to fight Canelo Alvarez? At least, fans don’t feel the same way. What about you? Do you think Canelo should accept the fight offer?

One take at a time

The first time boxing captured my attention, it was because of a line I heard in the film 'Rocky Balboa', a film surrounding boxing. The line went like this, "But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.
