Unlike other sports, boxing’s judging system is very complicated. Though there are rules made to score the punches, the absence of fair boundaries has led to several controversial decisions in the past. And it is not something that came up in recent times. Since the sport gained popularity in modern times, its judging system is facing backlash. Not a year passes without boxing critics and fans dragging the judges into the witness box. The main event bout between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall suffered a similar fate. Every highly competitive match ends with a similar controversy. The winner claims he earned it and the one who losses by a small margin take no time in blaming the judges for the loss. Despite this, the sport is still relying on the same process. The reason is clear, we don’t have an alternative to it. But it seems that these excuses will soon be outdated because AI judging of sporting events is likely to take the world by storm soon.
