‘This Dude Is a Real Boxer’ – Michael Hunter Lauds Jake Paul’s Boxing Ability

Heavyweight contender, Michael Hunter, has joined the minority who back the idea of YouTubers boxing. The American boxer gave his take on Jake Paul’s boxing ability while also warning Tommy Fury of his skill.

Paul has been in the headlines for months now as he is one of boxing’s most talked-about fighters. The controversy surrounding Paul’s involvement has united some of boxing’s fiercest rivalries. However, Hunter is all for the YouTuber boxing.

He spoke to ‘Beyond the Gloves’ on YouTube and said they used to go to the same gym in Vegas and revealed what he really likes about him. He said, “What I really like about him though, I was watching him work and spar and stuff. And I was just sitting there, and I was kind of just like, amazed because, this dude is a real boxer.”

This will come as a surprise, since many fighters have been questioning the legitimacy of Paul as a boxer. However, Hunter clearly rates the internet sensation.

Michael Hunter says Jake Paul still needs experience

The American, who is himself working towards a title shot, did not leave it at that. He explained his comment and admitted that Paul is not the finished article. However, he praised his natural ability.

“He’s, he’s a celebrity. He needs to get experience, yes…He has that energy, and he’s a fighter by nature.”

Therefore, these comments may cause a massive stir in the combat sports world. However, most fans will still point to the fact that Paul has fought no real boxers.

Moreover, this could be a warning to Tommy Fury. The pair have had a back-and-forth on social media recently. Even Bob Arum admitted that they would be open to making that fight. And Hunter has shown he thinks that would be a close fight.
