There is no bigger fight in boxing than the one currently talked about in the super-middleweight division! Canelo Alvarez is expected to defend his Super Middleweight title against David Benavidez. However, a cloud of uncertainty is looming over the entire situation. So, Mauricio Sulaimán has finally shed some light on the fate of the potential clash between the Titans.
‘The Mexican Monster’ is coming off a dominant win over Demetrius Andrade, which further escalated his chances of facing ‘Cinnamon.’ Not to mention, WBC had previously claimed the winner of the Benavidez vs. Andrade fight would face Canelo next. So, now that Benavidez has emerged victorious, a fight with Canelo looks inevitable. Meanwhile, the World Boxing Council president recently appeared in an interview with Fight Hub TV to shed light on the potential Canelo vs. Benavidez fight while legitimizing David as the mandatory.

Mauricio Sulaimán claims he is in touch with both camps
During the interview, the reporter questioned Sulaiman about insights into the potential fight. In response, Sulaiman revealed that it’s a long-drawn process that will start in the coming weeks. “This is a process that will start happening in the next coming weeks,” said Sulaiman. He went on to describe WBC’s role in ensuring the fight happens without any hiccups.
“What the WBC will do is ensure that the rules are in place, that the best conditions are for both fighters, specifically in the economics because they fight for the money,” said Sulaiman. The WBC president also added that he is in talks with both corners, and it’s just a matter of getting people excited about the fight. “I’ve been in touch with both camps, and it’s just a matter of getting everybody excited about such a great fight,” said Sulaiman. Sulaimán claims he is proud of David Benavidez
The WBC president began by praising Benavidez’s performance against Demetrius Andrade. “Well, it was a tremendous performance. What a great fight. I’m very proud of Benavidez. This was the groundbreaking fight for him,” said Sulaimán. He went on to claim that Benavidez has proved his potential while confirming his position as the mandatory.

“He demonstrated the power that he has, and he has been confirmed as the WBC mandatory contender of the division,” said Sulaimán. Later in the interview, Sulaimán suggested the talks for the fight would begin soon.
“He’s going to take a few weeks vacation, and we’re going to start talking, but I’m just very happy for what I saw this past Saturday,” said Sulaimán.
