Teofimo Lopez, at just 23 years of age, reigns as the undisputed lightweight champion. After an emphatic win over former pound-for-pound best Vasyl Lomachenko, he is destined for much greater heights going forward. However, fame and popularity present a much bigger challenge.
Lopez said, “I am honored, bro. Honestly, this is all surreal to me. Even to this day, just the fact that putting on for Brooklyn, and doing that. You know, knowing that it goes back to, you have Mike Tyson like you said. You have Zab Judah and all these athletes, all these guys. All these guys that I looked up to, are coming into this.”
Speaking to FightHype, the “Takeover” revealed that he felt honored at being compared to the likes of Mike Tyson and Zab Judah.

“The fact that I am in that position. I am there now, and I am in a position where I am like what did they do wrong for me to not to do that. I am staying secluded in some areas that way I don’t get myself into trouble. So, I don’t get into any certain things to get me distracted or put me in some kind of deep hole.”
