Devin Haney is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Not too long ago, ‘The Dream’ was filmed punching an unnamed man at the Orange County State Fair in California. To make matters worse, he attempted to flee the scene. Haney has taken a break from boxing after his loss against Ryan Garcia on April 20, which was later turned into a no-contest due to the Victorville native’s numerous penalties for using the banned substance Ostarine.

The beatdown Haney received during his fight against Garcia, coupled with the desperation that he showed to get back his undefeated record ever since Garcia’s PED scandal, has left the 25-year-old boxer’s reputation in a questionable place. On that note, the WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez’s father, Teofimo Lopez Sr., hinted in a recent interview that Haney can be drawn into further confrontations until he manages to avenge the Garcia loss.

Apart from putting pressure on the concerned authorities to deliver the strictest punishment to Garcia, Haney also stated in an interview with ESPN that he won’t be giving Ryan Garcia a rematch. What’s more, Haney formally requested the NYSAC to overturn his loss to Garcia. The request was eventually accepted, and the matchup with Garcia was declared null and void.

Speaking more on Haney’s current predicament, Teofimo Lopez Sr added, “Everybody’s just going to go pick on him. This is ugly bro, this is going to keep on happening. People screaming at him and he’s just got be tough.”

For the Honduran native, the only way Haney can save face is if he avenges his loss to Garcia. “He’s got to come back and do it again with Garcia,” Lopez Sr. suggested. Meanwhile, in a now-deleted post, Devin Haney explained the reason behind him throwing a sneaky punch at the person attending the fair.

Race is where Haney draws the line!

According to Haney, his act of violence at the Orange County State Fair didn’t come about unprovoked. Reportedly, Haney’s reaction was in response to a racial slur directed at him by an unnamed man. “In a deleted post on X. Devin Haney hinted that a racial slur instigated the street fight video, which has gone viral,” Boxing Kingdom wrote on X.

Notably, the man at the fair wasn’t only struck by Haney. The 25-year-old fighter’s entourage also beat up the person while ‘The Dream’ attempted to walk away from the scene of action once it started to escalate.

However, the exact details of the deleted post have not been screen-grabbed by the source. Thus, we must stop ourselves from speculating about the incident until all the facts are presented before us.
