YouTuber turned boxing sensation, Jake Paul, recently put his mettle to the test with an explosive and highly anticipated, fight against Tommy Fury. The duo faced each other at the Diriyah Arena in Saudi Arabia. While Paul showcased an impressive performance, Fury turned out to be a better pugilist. And was declared the winner by a split decision. However, this decision win was refuted by many members of the boxing fraternity and fans. In fact, heavyweight superstar, Deontay Wilder, also joined them in disagreeing with the decision.

During the fight, referee Hector Afu took a point from Paul for hitting Fury behind the head. Moreover, Fury suffered a knockdown during the sixth round due to a stiff jab. But, at the end of the fight, two judges ruled 76-73 in favor of Fury, and the third judge ruled 75-74 in favor of Paul. Notably, Wilder was not in agreement with this point deduction. In an interview with Fight Hub TV, Wilder said, “I think Jake got that one. That referee, that was an immature point taken. I think Jake Paul needed that knockdown and when he did it evened it out.”

He further added, “It was an immature point. The referee is supposed to give him at least three warnings. He gave him no warnings – get out of here.” Meanwhile, ‘the Bronze Bomber’ also met his former opponent, Tyson Fury, outside the venue, giving rise to speculations about a fourth fight.
Fans react to the statement made by Deontay Wilder
A lot of fans were not in agreement with Wilder’s statements. Additionally, they took to social media to share their thoughts about the same.
they both got a point deducted in the fight lol so this point/take makes NO sense. even if Jake DIDNT get a point taken away and Tommy still did , he still would’ve lost. He won 2 rounds. truth is , niether fighter should’ve been penalized a point , the ref was out of line.

Pretty sure Tommy got a point taken away too? Either way even if Jake didn't get a point taken off he still wouldn't have won on points so 🤷♂️

Many fans pointed out the fact that even Fury got a point deducted. Moreover, user @_Ry_ mentioned that Fury would have won regardless of the point being deducted.
Tommy was consistent the whole fight and won 7 rounds compared to Jakes 1, and tbh Tommy was fine after that partial knockdown so wouldn't have made any difference to the fight

Similarly, user @peter_shortland felt that Fury was consistent throughout the fight.
I agree that the ref taking the point off Jake so easily in an 8 round fight was disappointing to see. Especially after the ref didn’t even give them the usual warnings beforehand. I think he tried balancing his poor decision by taking one off fury too.

This take shows why he couldn’t beat Tyson. Wilders got that power, and to his credit he’s tough, but he doesn’t have great fundamentals. So either he’s salty towards the Fury’s, or he also lacks how points are scored in boxing
