Heavyweight is often the most sought after division in any combat sports. Several big names in boxing today hail from the same division. This includes one of the biggest names in the sport today – Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder to name a few. However, Fury believes he is the only big name today in the division.
Speaking to Mark Wright on Instagram Live, “The Gypsy King” broke down the current condition of the division. Fury and Joshua share all the silverware between them. However, AJ has his resume tainted by the presence of a loss. Same is the case with Deontay Wilder. That leaves Fury who hasn’t been torched yet.
For the WBC heavyweight champion, all this is enough to prove that he is ahead of the ladder than everyone else.

“There used to be a three-headed monster in the division,” Fury said. “It was me, Wilder and Joshua. And then Ruiz knocked out Joshua and I broke ‘The Bronze Bomber’. Three became two and two became one. Now I’m the lone soldier. They all need to come for me now. It’s not going to be an easy task.”

Tyson Fury gives an update on his future
Before the fight with Deontay Wilder, Fury had almost made up his mind. Once his deal with ESPN gets over, he was contemplating retirement. However, it seems that the extended period to think during the lockdown has made the Brit change his mind. He is now considering the possibility to keep on going even after his current contract expires.
“I had three fights left on my contract. I’ve got two left now,” said Fury. “I’ve got Wilder and Joshua. So, I’m just gonna keep going because there is nothing else to do. I’m 31 years old, fit as a fiddle. I’m in great mental spirits. I train three or four times a day for fans.”

However, if Fury beats Wilder in the trilogy and goes on to unify the belts against Joshua, he wouldn’t have a lot left to achieve. Nonetheless, Fury knows he will take pleasure in testing himself against elite competition.
“There’s plenty of fights out there for me to be top on. You got Dilian Whyte, Jarrell Miller. You’ve got [Kubrat] Pulev, [Andy] Ruiz, [Luis] Ortiz.”
