The political altercation between Russia and Ukraine is getting intense and the situation in the coming time is unpredictable. Regardless of that, three boxing organizations recently came up with a stern decision. The WBC, IBF, and WBO will not certify title fights involving Russian boxers.
Eventually, this step has puzzled a lot of fans, making them worried about the upcoming boxing bouts, especially between Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol.
However, Michael Benson provided an update on this fight and three boxing organizations’ ruling.

Taking it to Twitter, he added, “The WBC, IBF & WBO have now stated that they will no longer certify title fights involving boxers from Russia, following Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. Appears this may impact Artur Beterbiev vs Joe Smith Jr, but WBA not involved so not Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol.”

Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol’s contest recently got announced. The two men will square off on May 7 for Bivol’s WBA light-heavyweight title. On the other hand, the WBC and IBF light heavyweight champ, Artur Beterbiev was in contention to meet Joe Smith Jr., the WBO champ, in a unification fight.
But, with the prevailing scenario, this fight seems unlikely, and both the champions will have to wait until the next statement comes up from the boxing organizations.
