Katie Taylor reigned supreme as the undisputed lightweight champion of the world. The female superstar beat Miriam Gutierrez via unanimous decision in a historic all-female main card on Sky Sports. The Irishwoman put out a huge statement. She showcased her power and speed in an almost perfect fight. ‘The Bray Bomber’ defended all her belts against Spaniard Miriam Gutierrez.

The undefeated champion came out all guns blazing and unleashed a barrage of shots right at the start of the first round. Though Gutierrez weathered that storm, it set the tone for the fight. After breaking her down round by round, Taylor scored a knockdown right at the end of round four. With that, Taylor sensed an opening and continued to put on the pressure on the Spaniard right up to the end.

The Spaniard displayed a very good chin and absorbed a lot of the pressure while getting through the rounds. However, she could not land anything of her own and could not stop the ‘Bray Bomber’ from dominating the fight.

The Irishwoman threw hard and fast combinations to the body and mixed it up with big shots to the head. Taylor continued this for all ten rounds and eventually got the 100-89, 100-90, 99-91 decision in her favor.

The champion revealed that she tried to go for the knockout and did everything she could to get it. In the post-fight interview, she said, “Threw everything but the kitchen sink, Just couldn’t get her out of there. She’s as tough as nails and credit to her really. She hung in and she was there to fight until the very very end.”

Taylor added, “Yea definitely. I would have loved it to have gotten a stoppage there tonight. Haven’t got a stoppage in a long time, I don’t think.”

So what next for ‘The Bray Bomber’ after this fight? Taylor has said she has unfinished business with Delfine Persoon after their controversial bout in August. There have also been rumors of a potential fight against Amanda Serrano.
