During the interview, the pair discussed Garcia’s biggest career fight against Davis, which Garcia lost via a seventh-round knockout shot to the ribs. The Victorville native highlighted all the difficulties that he faced arranging the fight, claiming Mayweather, Davis’ then promoter, told Davis to cause all the issues before the fight.

When probed further by David, Garcia stated, “Yes, who do you think is telling him to do the rehydration clauses, putting all these stipulations on me? You can’t do this, you can’t do that, the ring needs to be this size. It’s Davis-Garcia, it’s not…but all these things were all by Floyd. Floyd is telling him what to do.”

However, what’s more interesting is what Garcia spoke about next. According to the 25-year-old boxer, during a sparring session, one opponent punched his ribs, and he suffered severe injury before the fight against Davis. He claimed only four people knew about the incident, and someone had informed Davis’ corner about the same.

“There’s only three people in that, and I’m not even [going] to give names [because] I don’t want to get sued. But there [were] only three people that were in…I’m sorry, four people that were in there,” said Garcia. When asked about whether Floyd or someone from Floyd’s team told Garcia about it, the Los Angeles resident stated, “Yes, that’s why Gervonta knew!” Moreover, it’s also worth mentioning that Garcia had dropped Devin Haney as a potential opponent after being influenced by ‘Money’ Mayweather.
