Vargas began his boxing career back in 2008. Nobody back then expected him to embark on a stellar career. In 2014, Vargas claimed his very first title at the super-lightweight frame. He won the WBA strap after beating Khabib Allakhverdiev.

‘The Pride of Las Vegas’ even defended his WBA belt twice. Later, in 2015, he stepped into the welterweight frame, locking horns with Timothy Bradley Jr. for the WBO interim welterweight title. In this fight, he capitulated to his first loss.

In his next fight, Vargas beat Sadam Ali to become the WBO welterweight champ. His last fight was in 2020 against Mikey Garcia. Here, ‘The Pride of Las Vegas’ lost via a UD. Now, Vargas has all of his attention for the elections and he will look to make the most out of his time there.
