“To Make Sure That It Was No Robbery…” – Devin Haney Reveals What His Team Did to Avoid Manny Pacquiao vs. Jeff Horn Type Situation for His Last Fight

Devin Haney registered a big upset victory over unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. The champ stepped inside the ring as 110 plus underdog in the home country of the champion and clinched the unified titles from the champ. However, before the much-hyped clash, Haney had made sure that the judges assigned for a fight were neutral, unlike the judges who passed a controversial verdict on Horn vs Pacquiao 2.
In a recent interview with ‘MMA Hour’, the host of the show asked Haney about his preparation to avoid a situation like Horn vs Pacquiao 2 fight.

To which ‘The Dreamer’ replied, “No, I knew that my team. I did a great job of making sure that it was neutral judges. And they did their research on each judge and you know, just we did the proper, you know, the protocol to make sure that it was no robbery or anything that was planned going on.”
Notably, Jeff Horn and the Filipino Great Manny Pacquiao collided for the second time in the year 2017 for the WBO welterweight title. The fight landed in the home country of Horn at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Similar to the fight between Kambosos Jr and Haney.
After 12 rounds of action-packed drama, the fight ended with a controversial decision victory in favor of Horn. This eventually turned out to be a big dispute. As it raised the question of the credibility of judges. Many believed that Pacquiao had an edge over Horn.
He appeared to win the fight. However, the WBO set up an inquiry for transparency purposes later.

The duo met in the ring to settle scores after heated verbal exchanges for months. Kambosos was the aggressor in the trade.
The fight remained competitive throughout 12 rounds. However, Haney’s skills surpassed the accuracy and precision of Kambosos, resulting in a decision victory. This made Haney the youngest undisputed champion.
