Sportsmanship is what makes an athlete great but it’s unfortunate that some athletes take it too far at times. Sportsmanship is embedded deep in boxings superstars Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez. The living legends who produced an epic rivalry that kept fans delighted for more than a decade presented a great example to other athletes in the world. The duo that sheltered treacherous intentions against each other in the ring interestingly came together on a Mexican TV show. Surprisingly the atmosphere they created was very friendly. In the real world, their fans are in habit of recalling their press conference where they show no mercy in taking verbal shots which produces the most hostile environment.

In the show, the duo sang a duet of ‘La Bamba’. Isn’t it exciting? Seeing two professional boxers coming together not to box but to sing a song. In fact, this happened during their rivalry. Now that they are retired, the clip of this show showing the duo singing surfaced on the internet.

A page named ‘Boxing Kingdom’ shared this clip and wrote in capital letters, “MANNY PACQUIAO AND JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ SINGING A DUET IN MEXICAN ON NATIONAL TV!” When fans saw this, they could not resist sharing their opinion on it.

The eight-weight division champ ‘PacMan’ and the Mexican great Marquez fought five times in their entire career. Though they fought several other opponents, they could not find the level of competitiveness that they had against each other. The first time, they met was in 2004. The bout was so close that the judges called it a draw.

This paved the way for three more exciting contests. Fours years later, they crossed paths for the WBC featherweight championship. This time, Pacquiao managed to land cleaner shots and emerged victorious via decision. The duo met twice again. Pacquiao won the third fight by a decision similar to the second. But the finishing knock to this rivalry came from Marquez, who despite aging gave Pacquiao his worst loss.
