

Former cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has made a surprising claim about Tyson Fury. The Englishman, who has openly praised Anthony Joshua in the past, picked ‘The Gypsy King’ over him in one particular aspect.

The Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight has been the talk of the sport for a while now. And while Bellew picked Joshua to win that fight, he has made a surprising claim about his potential opponent, Tyson Fury, and his boxing ability.

In conversation with iFL TV on YouTube, the scouser said, “If I was teaching a kid to fight, and I wanted to make him a boxer, I don’t wanna make him like Anthony Joshua, I’m sorry.”
He added, “Even though I think he’s brilliant. I wanna make him like Tyson Fury because he takes such little damage.”
Thus, with these comments, the outspoken Brit showed his respect to Fury’s unorthodox fighting style that has taken him to the top.

Fury has boxed since childhood, while Joshua took up the sport when he was 18. Hence, ‘The Gypsy King’ has had more time to master the sweet science and has mastered the art of not getting hit.

“The art of boxing is to hit and not get hit. Fury gets hit a lot less than Joshua,” said Bellew. Many fans will agree with this opinion from Bellew as Fury has displayed impeccable defense against some of the best boxers in the sport.

However, his comments may also surprise some. This is because the scouser is friends with ‘AJ’ and he has praised him for being the ideal professional in the past. Moreover, Bellew has publicly campaigned for Joshua as the best heavyweight.
