Avni Yildirim will enter the boxing ring to take the toughest test of his life. He will compete against the pound-for-pound king, Canelo Alvarez. It will be a high-risk, high-reward outing for the Turkish boxer, and he’s putting in the hard work as he looks to produce a staggering result on February 27.

His trainer, Joel Diaz, who has been associated with him since 2019, was in an interview with Bad The Left Hook. Here, he gave an insight into Yildirim’s training routine and his recent improvements as a boxer.

I made a complete transformation because I dedicated time to him. The COVID situation helped him in a way because there was nothing to do, there were no fights, so just to keep him busy we would go to the gym and work on technique and making him a better fighter,” said Diaz.

Diaz unveiled that ‘Mr. Robot’ was going through exuberant training sessions. And the pandemic helped him as Diaz focused on improving his techniques.

Yildirim fought last in 2019 and succumbed to a loss against Anthony Dirrell. His coach, Diaz, felt he showed substantial power in that fight, but he failed to defend shots coming from his opponent. But, in his current training program, Diaz is keeping Yildirim completely ready with his skill sets to face the sturdy Canelo Alvarez.

For Yildirim, defeating someone as vibrant as the Mexican pugilist will prove to be a colossal challenge. This feat has only been accomplished by Floyd Mayweather.

Coach Diaz’s statements assured the boxing fans of a cracking contest between the two. If the Turkish boxer secures a win in this enthralling bout, he will establish himself as the new unified king of the 168-pound division.
