‘True Spartan’: Boxing Fans Praise Wladimir Klitschko for His Latest Contribution to Ukraine

There are several pugilists who stepped inside the ring of professional boxing after serving in an army. But have you ever wondered that an already established stalwart joined the army after retiring from the ring? However, the former Ukrainian heavyweight, Wladimir Klitschko, has done the same.
Because of increasing tension between Ukraine and Russia, both countries are deploying heavy troops on their borders. Keeping this in mind, ‘Dr. Steelhammer’ joined the Ukrainian Army.

Notably, he reigned the unified throne of a heavyweight twice and retired as one of the greatest boxers of all time.
While enlisting his name in the reserve army unit, Wladimir Klitschko said, “My country is geopolitically struggling, so I am right here. I can’t stand still-and I won’t. That’s why I’m here and that’s why I signed up for territorial defense of the country and the city.”
“Before our enemies make an attack against Ukraine they have to see we are strong, they have to see how strong we will be, it will be a very painful price for everyone.”
