With just 10 seconds left in the very first round, the referee called a stop to the contest. Evander ‘The Real Deal’ Holyfield fell to the floor twice in the very first round. The first fall counted as a slip, but the second fall was a knockdown. Vitor connected flush with an uppercut to send Holyfield to the floor.

Holyfield fans and boxing fans alike expressed their concerns for Holyfield before the fight itself. Many called the Florida State Commission out for licensing Holyfield to fight at age 58.

After Oscar ‘The Golden Boy’ De La Hoya pulled out of the fight, Holyfield replaced him with less than a week to go. Triller also shifted the entire card to Florida, since the California State Athletic Commission did not give Holyfield a license to fight, citing his diminished skills and old age.

In the post-fight interview, Evander Holyfield claimed that the referee stopped the fight early and that ‘The Phenom’ Vitor Belfort did not hurt him. However, this was probably the last time we watched Evander Holyfield fight in the ring. Surely after tonight’s fight, none of the other Athletic Commissions will license a 58-year-old to fight.

Holyfield, on the other hand, does not feel the same way and even said he would have no problem fighting ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson in an exhibition fight.

What’s next for Vitor Belfort?

Vitor Belfort immediately called out Jake ‘The Problem Child’ Paul after his first-round win against Evander Holyfield. He offered him a $25 million winner take all fight.

Jake Paul, on his own winning streak after defeating Tyron ‘The Chosen One’ Woodley last month, is looking for a sterner challenger in the boxing ring. As Vitor Belfort is a prolific striker and has always openly expressed his hate for the Paul brothers and challenged both of them to a fight in the past, it makes sense for the pair to collide.
