The Charlo doubleheader delivered! After brother Jermall defended his WBC middleweight title against a tough contender in Sergiy Derevyanchenko, Jermell Charlo unified his WBC light-middleweight title by beating the WBA (Super) and IBF light-middleweight champion, Jeison Rosario.

Charlo started the fight strong, landing good shots early and scoring a knockdown in the very first round. After being in control for most of the fight, Charlo landed a hook and a right hand at the end of the sixth round that knocked Rosario down.

This made Rosario a little more cautious in his approach in the next round. However, it did not matter as Charlo had already done his work on Rosario till then.

With a hard jab to the body in the eighth round, Jermell Charlo floored Rosario once again. The shot didn’t look like it hurt a lot, but it had done its job. Rosario was panting and gasping for air after that shot. He could not answer the count. The fight was over and Charlo became the unified 154-pound champion via eighth-round KO.

What did Twitter think about the fight between Jermell Charlo and Jeison Rosario?

Many people, including the current WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford, were left in bewilderment and awe of Charlo’s performance and finish.

The WBC lightweight champion David Haney appreciated the shot that put Rosario down.
