“2 Hours of Nothing”: Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Creed III’ Heavily Criticized by Fans Despite Having ‘The Biggest Sports Movie Opening in Motion Picture History’

The Rocky franchise and its spinoff Creed series were fundamental in instilling a love for boxing in the hearts of cinema aficionados. This, in turn, also paved the way for the protagonists, Rocky Balboa and Adonis Creed, to become household names. Hollywood actor, Michael B. Jordan, who essayed the role of Adonis Creed recently made his directorial debut with the latest addition to the Creed series. And according to reports, Creed III, had one of the biggest sports movie openings in motion picture history.

Creed III had a sensational opening and quickly garnered praise from both the sports fraternity and film aficionados alike. Moreover, the film also had many notable names from the world of boing like Canelo Alvarez, and Terence Crawford making an appearance.

According to reports, Creed III clocked in a jaw-dropping USD 22 million opening-day collection. The official Creed III Twitter page even called it the ‘#1 movie in the world’. This post was later shared by Jordan as an Instagram Story.

Meanwhile, Jordan has big plans for the franchise. In an interview with Reuters, he said, “I definitely plan on expanding the ‘Creed-verse’ moving forward. Comic books to graphic novels to TV to spin-offs. There’s so many ways that you can tell a story with these rich characters. And now I’m going to figure out what I’m going to do.” It sure looks like the Creed series is set to have more power-packed performances in the future.

Some fans were not very dazzled by the latest addition to this series. Mostly owing to the absence of major characters from the previous films, and the iconic status that those films held. And a lot of fans took to social media to share their thoughts.

Many fans were not in line with the opening numbers for the movie. Moreover, user @UltraHero2099 mentioned that it was due to the fact that there were no good movies playing at that time.
