The heavyweight division in boxing is one of the most stacked divisions right now with a plethora of elite fighters gracing it. This includes former champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder, and also current champions Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. All of the above fighters possess high fight IQs and incredible punching power that can knock any person out at a moment.

Despite this, there’s is one man who hits harder than everyone mentioned above according to British Heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley. The 28-year-old boxer, who is set to face Michael Polite Coffie, on the undercard of AJ’s next fight against Jermaine Franklin revealed that former title challenger Dillian Whyte is the hardest puncher in the division.

Fabio Wardley touts Dillian Whyte as the hardest puncher in the heavyweight division snubbing Anthony Joshua among others

In an interview with TalkSport leading up to the fight, Wardley revealed that he has already sparred with the elites of the division. He added that although he has done some extra rounds with another fighter, he still feels that Whyte was the hardest puncher he ever sparred with. Moreover, he praised Whyte’s signature left hook which is his most notorious punch.

“To date, I’ve ticked most of them off now, I’ve done Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Dillian Whyte, Oleksandr Usyk, Filip Hrgovic, Derek Chisora. All the big names and top ten guys, I’ve ticked them all off, which is something I’m quite happy with and I’m thankful to them for giving me that opportunity. I’ve done more rounds with some than others but the single time I’ve been hit the hardest is Dillian Whyte. I think when he’s caught me with that quick check left hook a few times and it catches you by surprise.” he said.

Whyte’s impressive punching power has been on display in many of his fights. He knocked out Alexander Povetkin in the fourth round with a devastating left hook. Moreover, the win earned him the interim WBC heavyweight title which he could not convert into a WBC title following his loss to Fury.

Dillian Whyte sounds off on Joshua for facing Jermaine Franklin

Whyte was not happy that his fellow countryman chose to face Franklin instead of him. Whyte previously beat Franklin in their last encounter securing an MD win. Moreover, he was hopeful that this would earn him a match with ‘AJ’. However, Joshua will face Franklin instead which made Whyte a little angry about why this fight was even booked.

In an interview with SunSports, he claimed that he would have lost to Franklin if he knew that the loser could face Joshua. He also used some witty humor to dismiss the fight happening on April 1.

Everyone was told, all the boxing fans, that the winner of me and Franklin fights AJ. So this is a f***ed up thing. I would have been better off losing the Franklin fight and getting the AJ fight! It’s no surprise to me that they have chosen April 1 for this battle of the fools.” he said.

A fight against Joshua would have been a great payday for ‘The Body Snatcher’ who already had a great purse against Fury. This might have been the reason why he was angry about not getting into the fight.
