This made fans cheer up with excitement as they hoped to finally see the two face off for the undisputed belt. However, Fury revealed that he needed some time off due to an injury. In an interview with ESPN reporter Mark Kriegel, he stated that he needs surgery on his right elbow that could leave him out of action for 6 to 8 weeks.

However, he then claimed that he would return as soon as his injury was healed to face Usyk. If the injury takes 2 months to heal, we could see a match between the two by the summer of 2023. Moreover, with Fury now past his warm-up fights, he needs to take on someone of Usyk’s caliber if he wants to cement his legacy among the all-time heavyweight greats.
