Tyson Fury has revealed the reality of Ukrainian fighter, Oleksandr Usyk, as a heavyweight. The undefeated champion dismissed the threat of Usyk and explained why he thinks the former cruiserweight champion can’t cut it at heavyweight.

Many have tipped Oleksandr Usyk to be the one who beats both Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. The undefeated Ukrainian moved up to heavyweight after cleaning out the cruiserweight division and becoming undisputed.

However, ‘The Gypsy King’ showed he is not buying into the hype. He spoke to iFL TV on YouTube and revealed his honest take on Usyk. Fury questioned Usyk’s fight against Derek Chisora and suggested that as Chisora is at the end of his career, the win doesn’t count.

The 30-0 champion then added, “I thought actually, Chisora deserved a win or a draw, at worst, but he lost it on a split so he couldn’t think it but if you’re struggling with Derek Chisora, then how you going to beat the top guys in the division.”

Therefore, with this comment, Fury gave his honest take on Usyk’s performance. And since he could not beat an easier challenger convincingly, ‘The Gypsy King’ doesn’t rate his chances against any of the top contenders.

Is Tyson Fury right about Oleksandr Usyk?

The WBC champion did not hold back when dismissing the hype surrounding Usyk’s move up to heavyweight. And although it is his opinion, is Tyson Fury right about Oleksandr Usyk fighting at heavyweight?

Usyk has unquestionable boxing ability and dominated the cruiserweight division. Moreover, he fought at heavyweight in the amateurs. Therefore, this is nothing new for the southpaw. However, the heavyweight division right now is one of the most exciting in the sport.

If not for the Joshua-Fury fight, fans would have seen the reality of Usyk’s ability at heavyweight. The Ukrainian was gearing up to face Anthony Joshua since he is the WBO mandatory. Given the magnitude of the undisputed title fight, Usyk has settled for an eliminator against the hard-hitting Joe Joyce.

The situation of Usyk has divided opinions among boxing fans. While some believe his superior boxing will enable him to outbox opponents, others feel he will not be able to withstand the power. Either way, it is a debate that can only be answered in the ring.
