In the history of boxing, rarely has a boxer tried to land a superman punch on his opponent. In the leadup to the fight on Saturday night, nobody had contemplated what actually happened. Francis Ngannou put on an absolute master class of boxing despite having zero boxing experience. What’s more, even the WBC Heavyweight champion barely managed to defeat the mixed martial artist. However, collecting the most attention is the fact that the fight was awarded to Fury via split decision. It even overshadowed the illegal attempt from Ngannou.

Fans collectively overlook the illegal move from Francis Ngannou

After the fight concluded, a user turned to X (formerly Twitter) to share a clip of the incident. In the short span of time the clip has been live on X, it has collected over 1 million views, over 7K likes, and more than 150 comments. While a scarce amount of people highlighted the punch, the majority of the populace remarked about their disapproval of the decision.

One user confidently pointed out the Superman punch Ngannou attempted on Tyson Fury. It’s worth noting that Superman punch is allowed in MMA but extremely illegal in boxing.

Someone else implied that the fight was fixed and no matter what would have happened, Fury would have won. The user suggested the fight could have been a draw, but Fury was given the win despite Fury losing.

Even the next user suggested that the fight was fixed because Ngannou won the fight fair and square. It’s worth mentioning that even the commentators were taken aback when the result was announced.

The next user boldly asserted that the decision was given to Fury just so that the fight in December against Oleksandr Usyk could happen. The user highlighted the fact that Fury got outboxed by someone who has zero boxing experience.
