51-year-old Roy Jones Jr. will be returning to boxing on November 28. He will do it in a marquee bout against one of the most popular boxers of all time, Mike Tyson. It is a big event in the world of boxing. However, the bout will be an exhibition bout between the two, as both are well past the shape they need to be in to get a professional boxing license. Nonetheless, fans are excited.

Jones Jr. has evidently kept his eye on heavyweight boxing in general. While speaking to BT Sport prior to the fight, he revealed who he thinks is the best heavyweight around today. ‘Captain Hook’ said, “I love the scene right now, they’re really talented guys. A lot of different characters on the scene right now.”

Jones Jr. then gave a name for the best fighter around. “Tyson Fury beat Wladimir Klitschko, who was the best for a long time. You ain’t the man until you beat the man, and he beat the man. Nobody hasn’t beaten him since then. In my opinion, Tyson Fury is still the man.”

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – FEBRUARY 22: Tyson Fury celebrates his win by TKO in the seventh round against Deontay Wilder in the Heavyweight bout for Wilder’s WBC and Fury’s lineal heavyweight title on February 22, 2020 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Al Bello/Getty Images)
Like Jones Jr. said, Fury beat Wladimir Klitschko when Klitschko looked unstoppable. He then boxed Deontay Wilder to a draw, a fight many had actually scored for Fury. This was followed up by the rematch, where Fury destroyed ‘The Bronze Bomber’. While Wilder is still making excuses and clamoring for a rematch, ‘The Gypsy King’ is looking ahead.
The only other boxer in the heavyweight division that has a genuine case to be the best is Anthony Joshua. Hopefully, we see Fury and Joshua meet to decide who the best boxer is. However, until then, we have to give Fury his props.
