A two-fight deal between both fighters was agreed upon in principle in 2020. It was reported that the purse split would be 50-50 between both the fighters. Meanwhile, the second fight would have a 60-40 split in favor of the winner.

Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn revealed in March 2021 that the duo would be signing a deal for the fight.
