WBC heavyweight champion of the world Tyson Fury has confirmed that he will not be fighting in 2020 after all. The ‘Gypsy King’ was rumored to make his home-coming after almost three years; he was supposed to fight on December 5, 2020. However, with complications about his opponent, they have now had to cancel the event. Boxing fans will only get to see the eccentric fighter back next year.

Tyson Fury first said that they were moving on from Deontay Wilder and looking for new opponents. The search for opponents did not go too well, as most other ranked fighters had bouts scheduled. Early reports said that the Englishman would fight Carlos Takam. However, they did actually send a contract to Agit Kabayel later. Despite this, it seems Kabayel has not agreed to fight Fury.

Who can Tyson Fury fight next?

Even though Fury’s camp have said that they were looking for Anthony Joshua next, it is highly unlikely. Fury himself said he wants two fights against Anthony Joshua next year. However, when you consider the long lay off the ‘Gypsy King’ has had, it is difficult to see how that fight can happen.

Fans can expect the Englishman to fight one of the ranked opponents early next year before fighting Anthony Joshua. It could be Agit Kabayel or any other heavyweights ranked in the top ten. He could also fight the winner of the Alexander Povetkin vs Dillian Whyte rematch.

The winner of that fight would be mandatory for Fury’s WBC belt. And finally, there is the prospect of a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder as well. So options aplenty, it will be intriguing to see what the undefeated champion does. Who do you see him fighting next?
