WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is regarded as one the best heavyweights to step foot inside the squared circle. Standing at 6 feet-9 inches tall, ‘The Gypsy King’ certainly has the size to compete with most of the heavyweights. However, his elite skill is what makes him stand out from the rest of the competition which is why he has defeated many former champions including Wladmir Kiltchsko and Dillan Whyte.
Despite this, there is one man that has almost stood toe to toe with Fury even coming close to becoming the first man to ever beat him. This man is none other than former WBC champion Deontay Wilder. Both fighters have competed thrice in the ring with Fury getting two victories over his arch-rival and a draw in their first outing. This is the reason why the British boxer thinks that the former Olympian is the toughest opponent he has ever faced.
In an interview with Foxify Trade, Fury touted Wilder as his toughest opponent. Moreover, he also claimed that ‘The Bronze Bomber’ came the closest to beating him in the ring knocking him down twice in their third fight and could easily beat any other heavyweight boxer in the world.

Tyson Fury: "My most formidable opponent was Deontay Wilder. All three times it could've been curtains for me at any second. He knocked out every single person that he ever fought, apart from me. I'd back him to beat everybody in the division apart from myself." [@FoxifyTrade]

“My most formidable opponent was Deontay Wilder. All three times it could’ve been curtains for me at any second. He knocked out every single person that he ever fought, apart from me. I’d back him to beat everybody in the division apart from myself” he said.
However, this statement was not well received by fans who slammed Fury for picking Wilder as his toughest matchup

Another user named Cadillac $lim slammed the WBC champion for almost being knocked out by Wilder. Moreover, he claimed that Usyk would beat both Fury and Wilder in a boxing match.
The fact that Fury who is supposed to be some god according to some individuals struggled with that donut is baffling to me 😂😂 can’t be that great if wilder touched him up 😂😂 One person who would give both them a boxing lesson is USYK

Lastly, a user named the thebrownlife claimed that Fury cannot be in the conversation for the greatest of all time with his best win coming over Wilder. He added that other greats like Muhammad Alia and Joe Frazier would be laughing after hearing this statement.

First he’s the greatest and then his top victory is Wilder. Imagine Ali and Frazier somewhere laughing so hard it hurts.

Despite the criticism from fans, Fury has been an elite boxer for the better part of a decade. He has defeated former champions in his wake including Wilder, with him being the only man ever to beat ‘The Bronze Bomber’ in the ring. However, if he wants to cement his legacy as the greatest heavyweight boxer ever, he needs to add a few other top names to his resume. This includes Usyk who is more than a worthy opponent for The Gypsy King, holding three titles in the division to Fury’s one.
