Deontay Wilder hasn’t reacted sharply to the derailment of his trilogy fight against Tyson Fury which was supposed to happen on July 24. But the boxing universe doesn’t seem pleased with it. As a member of Team Fury has reportedly contracted the coronavirus, the fight is no longer happening on the scheduled date. However, the matchup is still relevant and looks likely to be delayed by at least two-to-three months.

Mike Coppinger, who broke the news to the world, revealed a possible date of October 9 for the heavyweight trilogy. T-Mobile Arena is still the hosting stadium. Hence, not much has changed. However, this failed fight date of July 24 will impact the entire heavyweight championship ride.

Although another bout in Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk will happen in September, the derailment of Fury vs Wilder 3 has left the entire division in an absolute shock. Given the new date for the WBC title fight, a potential unification clash may only go down in 2022.
