Dillian Whyte deserves a shot at Tyson Fury for the WBC world heavyweight title. Unfortunately, the WBC mandatory challenger may not get the opportunity as his team has not been able to come to an agreement with Fury’s team.

While Dillian Whyte would have made the most sense for ‘The Gypsy King’, Fury’s US promoter Bob Arum revealed why they aren’t considering it. Arum hailed Whyte as an A-lister, but didn’t want to put him against Fury for the amount of money he demanded.

In an exclusive chat with IFL TV, Bob Arum addressed the issue and said, “Tyson [Fury] is the big attraction. Nobody has heard in the United States of Dillian Whyte really and I think we have offered him a deal of 25% with a guarantee and let him negotiate for that. But again, he says he wants eight-figures. You know, over 10 million, which is like out of the question. I don’t know what he is talking about.”

Dillian Whyte can actually wait until Fury defends his other two belts. However, he may miss out, as he would have to defend his interim belt.

Furthermore, if Fury beats another opponent, Arum will be keen on booking him against the winner of Usyk vs Joshua 2. That said, Dillian Whyte seems miles away from the world championship shot.

Is Dillian Whyte losing his charm in the heavyweight division?

Whyte is a top-rated knockout artist and is a legitimate name in the existing roster. He can offer tough challenges to several names, including Tyson Fury. However, the outer-ring drama has cost him his mandatory sport. Despite being the rightful contender, Whyte has to rely on Tyson Fury, who will seemingly make the calls at will.
