In an interview with the Express, Frank Warren opens up about his thoughts on a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Warren is confident that AJ will meet the same fate as Deontay Wilder.

The Gypsy King’s promoter confirms that there is no doubt in his mind that his client will emerge victorious in the British showdown.

“Tyson will do to Joshua exactly what he did to Wilder. What people forget about Fury is that he’s got a very strong chin. He’s got a great boxing brain. He’s got great hand speed, great footwork. And he’s brave, we’ve seen him get off the floor.”- Frank Warren

Warren goes on to cite Joshua’s performance against a dreadfully ill-prepared Andy Ruiz. Taking that fight as an example, he declares that in his mind Fury is the better fighter.

“We’ve seen him do all of that, AJ was terribly exposed against Andy Ruiz Jr. He got absolutely exposed and in the second fight, Ruiz Jr was even heavier than he should have been, totally out of condition. AJ trained hard, it’s what you should do as a pro, he fought on the back foot. But I look at it this way.”- Frank Warren via Boxing Scene

A Long Wait Before Frank Warren Can Test His Theory

The MGM Grand in Las Vegas saw one of the greatest comebacks in the world of boxing. With Tyson Fury dropping Deontay Wilder not once but twice. Forcing Wilder’s cornermen to toss in the towel in the seventh round and capturing the WBC title.

Following which Fury is looking to take on Wilder in a contract trilogy fight. The fight was slated to take place sometime in July. However, the Coronavirus epidemic has forced a delay, potentially to a date in October.
