UFC president Dana White is out to make history. This time, however, it will be in boxing and not in MMA.  The UFC President will get his first taste of boxing as he looks to branch out into other combat sports. After a very successful period in the UFC coinciding with White’s presidency, can we expect the same in boxing?

Dana has been very open in his criticism of the sport of boxing before; however, reports emerged that his boxing promotional company Zuffa Boxing will promote the super-welterweight clash between Claressa Shields and Marie-Eve Dicaire. The two were initially set to face each other on May 9; however, due to the global pandemic, it had to be canceled.

The new date for the fight is December 11 and will be in the fight capital of the world, Las Vegas. The bout will have high stakes, as all the super-welterweight world titles will be on the line. Furthermore, as Dana White is promoting the fight, it will be on the UFC Fight Pass.

Will Dana White be a success in boxing?

Dana White is a very good businessman and knows the fight business as well as anybody out there. Despite his criticism of the sport, he is clearly out to make his mark.

With the number of successful events he has put up in the UFC, there is no doubt that he has what it takes to be a success in the sport. Although, coming from an independent organization, it will be interesting to see how he deals with the sanctioning bodies.

There have been reports of a potential match-up between Shields and Savannah Marshall who called out the American; Shields fired back. However, she has to get past Marie-Eve Dicaire to be in with a shot against Marshall.

If that does eventually happen, we may get to see an intriguing negotiation between Eddie Hearn and Dana White. Either way, if this happens, fans can expect to see Dana White in the sport of boxing for a long time. What do you make of his decision to promote the fight?
