Floyd Mayweather stated, “When I came in, I put the heavyweights out of business. But then, then I brought crazy money to small weight-classes, this is what I did in the sport of boxing. So now, it’s so jacked up, all the fighters want – I just wanna get paid, I just wanna get paid. But I got paid, I put in a lot of hard work. And that’s what this is about. These guys wouldn’t be getting the money that they are getting, if it wasn’t for me. I changed boxing totally.”

Well, Mayweather’s PPV fights are on top of the list of most lucrative boxing fights. He is also known as the richest boxer in the world. ‘Money’ took retirement from boxing in 2017, however, he still participates in exhibition bouts. The 45-year-old was recently in Japan for his exhibition match against Japanese MMA fighter, Mikuru Asakura. Eventually, the American got an easy win as he knocked out his opponent at the end of round 2.

The legendary boxer and the biggest UFC star first engaged in a battle in 2017. The boxing fight garnered a lot of attention from fans around the world, and is one of the most lucrative fights in the sport. The bout ended with the American knocking out Conor McGregor in the 10th round.

Interestingly, there have been rumors about a potential rematch between the two. ‘The Notorious’ has lately been inactive in the Octagon due to his leg injury. But now he seems fit to fight again, and what’s better for a striking comeback than his rematch with Mayweather.

Apparently, Mayweather revealed that he will be fighting McGregor in 2023. Following that, the UFC superstar shared a picture of the first bout on Instagram, and wrote, “not interested”.
