Music plays an integral role in a boxer’s training. Every boxer has a set of tunes they like to hear when they are in the gym training hard before a fight or just sparring casually. At the same time, music is essentially subjective to the listener. Someone’s favorite artist might not ring the bells for someone else. The former featherweight champion Shakur Stevenson took to social media to announce to his fans who he thinks is one of the greatest music artists from the city of Memphis.

Stevenson took to Twitter to reveal the artist who has made a place in his heart with his music.

Stevenson names ‘The King of Memphis’

In response to a tweet by Mixtapez asking, “who would you crown the King of Memphis?” Stevenson replied with an artist’s name, which his fans did not expect. For Stevenson, Yo Gotti is the ‘King of Memphis’ and one of the best artists from Memphis.

From a list of rappers, Moneybagg Yo, Finesse2tymes, Pooh Shiesty, Young Dolph, and GloRilla, Yo Gotti is the standout for the former featherweight champion. The champ himself is engaged with a music artist. Stevenson’s fiancee Young Lyric, is an artist herself.

Currently, Stevenson is eyeing fights in the lightweight division and is already up to 135 lbs. He aims to fight the likes of Vasiliy Lomachenko and Gervonta Davis this year. After making his spot in the lightweight division, he is ready to take on a new challenge and start afresh. The ‘Fearless’ will be fighting in the lightweight division for the first time in April. He is scheduled to fight Shuichiro Yoshino in a lightweight bout.

After unifying his featherweight titles in a bout against Oscar Valdez, Stevenson got down on one to propose to his girlfriend Michelle Ragston, who goes by the stage name, ‘Young Lyric.’ She starred in a reality show called ‘The Rap Game.’

The 22-year-old is a music sensation. She has over more than 45 million views on her youtube. She has won many accolades in her career till now. Coming from a family of artists, Michelle has had the art of performing in her blood, and she gave her first performance in front of her whole school when she was just 7 years old.

Stevenson has a music artist as his partner; one cannot doubt his understanding of the industry. The couple is yet to get married. They welcomed a daughter in December 2021.
