He tweeted, “Mr Arum with all due respect they’re not coming in to watch Haney or Lomachenko, they are coming to watch their Emperor return home with all the belts after Taking Over boxing. These belts are Australia’s & Greece’s and they’re going to need an army to take them off us.”

The lines were similar to what former UFC champion Conor McGregor had said in 2016 prior to his lightweight title bout at UFC 205.

As of now, it is unclear if the reference was intentional or if it was just the champion expressing his supremacy over everyone in the division.

George Kambosos Jr. unified title victory

In the epic title clash, Kambosos Jr tore apart Teofimo Lopez. Trained as a stablemate of Manny Pacquiao, ‘The Emperor’ showcased the true art of boxing. In the high-pressure match at a jam-packed Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden, ‘Ferocious’ began well.

The Aussie knocked Teofimo Lopez down in the opening round itself and set the tone for what turned out to be an epic match. Over the next 11 rounds, smooth footwork, mad flickers, and brutal hooks kept the defending champion at a distance.

Though he was down on his knees in the 10th round, he fought back brilliantly and dominated. Unfortunately for ‘The Takeover‘, that was only good enough for a split win.
