Following a title defeat against Teofimo Lopez, Vasyl Lomachenko seems to have lost a bunch of his followers, as boxing fans are mostly excluding him from the current lightweight title picture. However, Lomachenko can return soon and he isn’t done yet.

A few days back, ‘The Matrix’ took to social media and claimed that he would leave no doubts in the ongoing calendar and cited a big return. Meanwhile, Bob Arum shed light on the Ukrainian’s return date and sent several fans into a frenzy.

The Top Rank CEO connected with The Ring to talk about several things. He also reflected on Lomachenko’s future and predicted a return.

“I talked with his (Lomachenko’s) manager Egis Klimas today (Friday), and it’s probably late spring, early summer,” said Arum.

However, Lomachenko might not get close to a title shot at this stage. After a successful run of 13 fights, he suffered his second professional loss against Lopez. So, the 32-year-old will need to bag a win to enter the title ride again.

Meanwhile, the entire lightweight unit is stacked with unbeaten champions in Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis, and Ryan Garcia. All these champions are untested against each other, and 2021 can see this super-fights come to fruition.

This may sideline Lomachenko, but he could use the time away from the title picture to re-establish himself as a major contender.

What’s next for Vasyl Lomachenko?

‘The Matrix’ needs one or two more wins to re-enter the title ride. That said, the entire 135 lbs roster is blooming with big names. Lomachenko has constantly demanded to rematch Lopez, but ‘Take Over doesn’t seem interested in the fight.

So, Lomachenko can bag a fight against Gonzalez or Shelby. There are more such fights, and considering Lomachenko’s stardom, it won’t be difficult to find an opponent for him.
