Ever since Manny Pacquiao and Ryan Garcia’s fight fell through, there has been sufficient buzz around the former fighting the resilient welterweight, Mikey Garcia. The former welterweight champion, Garcia, fought just once in 2020 and claimed the WBC Diamond welterweight title.

Ever since then, he’s been in search of a big-name opponent. And at this stage, no one better than ‘Pacman’ can provide him with a stern test inside the ring.

However, the upcoming 147-pound prospect, Vergil Ortiz Jr. believes Mikey Garcia will annihilate the Filippino Senator in every department and upset him. Speaking to ES News, he said, “Mikey smokes him!”

“First of all, I’d like to say that Mikey is a better version of Marquez (Juan Manuel Marquez) like way better. I think he’s smarter, he’s more explosive, I think he’s stronger than him. I think I’ve said in different interviews before, Mikey is the only boxer who’s like really broken me down inside the ring.”

Ortiz Jr. talked about his sparring sessions with Garcia. He believes the latter has crushing power to dismantle his opponents. The 22-year-old even admitted to improving his prowess just by sparring with the veteran.

Garcia enjoyed a staggering career until he faced Errol Spence Jr., who handed him only career loss to date. Despite that, the 33-year-old bounced back with a win in his last fight, and now he’s keen to touch gloves with the veteran, Manny Pacquiao.
