VIDEO: Canelo Alvarez Shows Off Lightning Fast Speed and Defense in New Training Video

The pound-for-pound king, Canelo Alvarez, is set to enter the squared circle on February 27 for his first bout in 2021. The unified 168-pound champion will look to defend his titles against the Turkish pugilist, Avni Yildirim, in a 12-round war. A win here will help him adhere to his aim of being an undisputed champion at super middleweight.

Ahead of this clash, Saul Alvarez’s trainer, Eddy Reynoso, released a training video of his warrior. Here, the Mexican superstar showcased his captivating defense and speed. Even though he’s fighting a lesser-known opponent, Alvarez is leaving no stones unturned in preparations for this bout.

This will be the veteran’s first major title defense at the super middleweight landscape, but based on his previous bout, it seems as though he has adapted well.

Canelo fought just once in 2020 but secured one of his biggest career wins against the lanky Brit, Callum Smith. Several boxing enthusiasts wrote off Alvarez in this fight. However, the latter reverted in style and delivered one of his most eye-catching performances.

With that win, Alvarez cemented his plans of staying at this weight class and bagging all the titles. Moving into this fight, he will want to deliver on his plans.

Saul Alvarez has hung around the sport for a while and has taken some of the most stout combatants in his career. For the unparalleled prowess he has exhibited, Alvarez is an abrupt favorite in this fight.

Although Yildirim has a height advantage, he certainly might find it difficult going toe-to-toe against the highly experienced Alvarez. One thing that will excite boxing fans is to see how deep Yildirim will dig to provide a worthy test to Saul Alvarez at the Hard Rock Stadium.
