Derek Chisora is up to his usual antics again. The eccentric heavyweight embraced the occasion of Halloween ahead of his fight against Oleksandr Usyk. The two will face each other as the main event tomorrow.

At the weigh-in, Chisora seized his opportunity to make the headlines. After a relatively subdued press conference for Derek Chisora’s standards, the weigh-in saw a very different-looking Chisora.

As his name was announced, the veteran heavyweight came out dressed as a ghost/ ghoul. Covered in white powder, black paint across his mouth and eyes, and with the word “war” written across his chest.

Chisora took everyone by surprise. It is safe to say that the fact the two are fighting on Halloween is the reason behind his actions.

It could also be a sign of his intent in the fight. Chisora may be hinting at the fact that he will attack the undefeated Ukrainian like the evil spirit is said to attack.

It will be interesting to see if this was just a joke or whether the Englishman was trying to get into his opponent’s head. After the weigh-in, he said, “Today is wartime. It’s fight time. I’m going to war, so don’t miss it. I’d rather — he knocks me out, or else I’ve done nothing.”

Oleksandr Usyk came in two-and-a-half stone lighter than Derek Chisora

Oleksandr Usyk came in at 15st 7lbs, whereas Derek Chisora weighed in at 18st 3lbs. The Ukrainian came in 2 pounds heavier than his first heavyweight fight. Chisora, however, will walk into this fight 5lbs lighter than his previous encounter. How much of an impact will the weight difference have? We will find out on fight night.
