Oscar De La Hoya won 11 different world titles in six weight classes and was one of the best boxers of his generation. After 17 years out of the sport, he is all set to make his comeback and his old foe, Fernando Vargas, has teased a rematch between them.
Vargas retired a year before De La Hoya in 2007 and has shifted his focus to training his son. Vargas himself is a two-time super-middleweight champion, and this rematch between two retired stars would make waves across boxing.

After these comments, the former two-time champion refused to shut down a potential rematch. Vargas’ son then encouraged his father to show off his incredible shape. The 43-year-old gladly obliged, flexed his abs, and showed his impressive physique.
This comes after De La Hoya officially announced his return to the ring. The former multi-weight world champion will fight on July 3. However, he still has no opponent for his bout. Therefore, Vargas didn’t deny the possibility.

The history between Fernando Vargas and Oscar De La Hoya
With his comments, Vargas revealed his stance on former boxing legends returning to the ring. This is an idea that has drawn immense criticism from fans, but ‘Ferocious’ clearly has no objection to it.
In addition, his willingness to face De La Hoya will also be no surprise for fans as the two have a history between them. ‘Golden Boy’ faced Fernando Vargas back in 2002 for the unified super-welterweight title. In the highly anticipated bout, De La Hoya knocked out ‘Ferocious’ Vargas in the penultimate round.

Thus, Vargas has a score to settle with De La Hoya. In addition, he appears to be in shape to make a comeback to the ring. Moreover, it would be a very lucrative fight for the former champion. A stumbling block here would be the fact that Triller wants a former UFC fighter to share the ring with ‘The Golden Boy’.
