The Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul exhibition gave rise to many talking points. Among all the controversy and criticism, one topic not many spoke about was the boxing debut of former NFL star Chad Johnson, who competed on the undercard.

Johnson faced Brian Maxwell in an exhibition bout on the back of two months’ training. Despite the short time to prepare, the former football star put on a decent showing. And now, we have an insight into how his good friend, Floyd Mayweather, reacted to the bout.

SHOWTIME Sports posted a video of the behind-the-scenes on YouTube. In the video, we see the 50-0 boxer reacting to the fight live, and he said, “I’m proud of him though. Not bad… not bad.” The two then met in the dressing, and Johnson told him how hard it was in the ring.

TBE’ then replied with, “I know, but, the lights that you pick, that’s how it is. It’s different from when you get comfortable boxing in the gym. You’ll be alright. With no amateur experience, like that…”

Johnson then showed his funny side and said, “That shit’s hard, bruh. But let me know when you want to get in there,” hinting at a potential bout with Mayweather.

Floyd Mayweather and Chad Johnson

Mayweather’s superstardom during his career had led to him being friends with many celebrities, including athletes from other sports. One of the best examples of this is his friendship with Johnson. The two have been close for a few years now, and this video certainly showed that.

In addition to this, before the fight, Johnson revealed the only reason he got into the ring was that Mayweather personally asked him to. This shows how much Johnson values Mayweather. Moreover, based on Mayweather’s comments, the NFL star’s performance impressed him.
