Floyd Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers of the modern era. Over the course of his prolonged boxing run, Mayweather became the face of the sport. He developed an unbeatable defensive style that none of his opponents could break. But, this wasn’t the case when he stepped onto a basketball court.

Apart from boxing, Mayweather has showcased his love for various other sports, predominantly basketball. A few years ago, ‘Money’ played a charity basketball match when he got floored for the very first time.

Michael Benson shared this unusual video, wherein Mayweather was seen enjoying his time in the court despite a knockdown.

In the above video, Mayweather tried to block an athlete who wanted to score a basket. For the first few seconds, the undefeated boxer successfully controlled him, but later got puzzled by the athlete and found himself on the mat.

In his decorated boxing run, Mayweather was a stranger to getting knocked down. But in this different vertical altogether, he failed to stay on the vertical base for long.

As soon as he was on the floor, ‘Money’ took it to his chin and cracked up laughing. He quickly got up on his feet and resumed the ongoing contest. This is exactly what he did in the ring too.

The only time Floyd Mayweather got knocked down in his boxing career

Floyd Mayweather got stunned by several opponents in his career, but there was just one contest when he was actually ‘knocked down’. In 2001, Mayweather went up against Carlos Hernandez in a super featherweight contest. The 43-year-old fought considerably well in this fight until the sixth round, when the referee suspected his left glove touched the canvas.

Though it wasn’t a proper knockdown, it’s still considered being the only time when Mayweather was given a count by the referee. He even showed that hand to his corner, stating it as a reason for getting the countdown.
