In recent years, New York City has seen a drastic increase in crime rates. Moreover, the number of violent crime incidents and incidents of crime against property has also seen a devastating upward trend. In fact, social media personality and boxer Slim Albaher recently shared some rather unsettling news about one of his loved ones being attacked.

According to the FBI’s data reports, the crime rate in NYC is considerably higher than the national average. And that the chance of becoming a victim of violent crime is 1 in 39.

Addressing the same, NYC Mayor Eric Adams said, “We have to deal with the actualization of the crime. I say this all the time, the increase in numbers. We have had an unprecedented decrease throughout the years. So we have to deal with that. But it’s also the feeling. How are New Yorkers feeling every day?”

Moreover, he further added, “I have to bring down the actual numbers. But also make New Yorkers feel safe.”

Meanwhile, Albaher took to Twitter to announce that his uncle’s shop in NYC was shot up. The disturbing CCTV footage showed two people (presumably his uncle and an employee) running for cover as shots were being fired at the store.

However, he clarified that his uncle escaped unscathed, albeit a little shaken after the incident.

Albaher also added that NYC had become ‘a really scary place’.

Slim Albaher followed in the footsteps of many other YouTubers to venture into the world of boxing. Moreover, he went on to challenge KSI, his brother Deji, and Sidemen’s associate AnEsonGib to boxing matches.

Albaher faced fellow YouTuber Fousey for his first fight at York Hall in London in 2019. And went on to win the bout by TKO. Nicknamed ‘The Hitman’ he went on to gain an impressive record of 4-0-0.

He also faced FaZe Temperrr as the co-main event of KSI’s 2 Fights 1 Night event.
