The world knows Mike Tyson for the magic he created inside the ring. Tyson came into the sport in the late 1980s and until today, he’s remained the most debatable boxer. As famous for his actions inside the ring, ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ is equally known for his antics outside it.

In a fresh Hotboxin podcast alongside Canelo Alvarez, Eddy Reynoso, and Henry Cejudo, Tyson revealed a terrifying story about his friends and his brain surgeon brother, Rodney Tyson.

‘Iron Mike’ said, “I have a brother that’s a brain surgeon. That’s some s**t. I can f**kin barely read and write and this guy’s a brain surgery s**t. A couple of my friends were shot, he went there and sewn them up. He (one of Tyson’s friends) said ‘Mikey that’s your brother?’, my brother saved a couple of my friend’s lives. They’ve been shot or something. He sewn them up. And they were like ‘that’s your brother?’, yes it is my brother.”

Right from his childhood, Tyson never got captivated by studies. On the other hand, his brother Rodney Tyson (five years his senior) was always intrigued by science and did various experiments with test tubes.

Mike Tyson was the only person in his family to pick an altogether unique stream. No one back then expected him to go this far and cement himself as boxing great.

“He once went to the chemistry lab at Pratt Institute, a nearby college, and got some chemicals to do an experiment. A few days later, when he was out, I snuck into his room and started adding water to his test tubes, and I blew out the whole back window, starting a fire in his room.” wrote Tyson.

Despite many such anecdotes, they’ve maintained an admirable bond with each other even today.
