Welterweight elite Terence Crawford is back to the boxing flow, after quite a layoff since defending his WBO belt against Kell Brook in 2020. ‘Bud’ will now defend his strap against former champion Shawn Porter and the fight has been officially initiated by the WBO. Thus, the official fight date is all that’s left to make this bout official.

Although Crawford’s 37-0 record bills him as the favorite, Porter has all the chances of landing a stunner. Having faced some of the best boxers of the division, ‘Showtime’ also has a lot of experience on his side. However, Terence Crawford seems unbothered about his rival’s prowess.

The unbeaten champion, ‘Bud’, who is well aware of his abilities, was spotted having a light time at the gym. Training with super middleweight boxer Steven Nelson, Crawford showcased his flexible moves while skipping. His footwork appeared to be perfect as he danced around with a smile on his face.

The official social media handle of Top Rank Promotions shared the moment with the fans. In the caption, they wrote, “Too smooth with it.” Thus, Crawford appears to be at 100% before facing Porter, one of the most important opponents in his boxing career.

Nevertheless, the in-ring scenario might not be very smooth. If you recall Porter vs Spence Jr, you know what ‘Showtime’ can do. Furthermore, with all his experience of pro combat, he can shockingly become the first man to vanquish ‘Bud’. Thus, it cites a 50-50 matchup incoming in the future.

31-3-1 as a professional boxer, Porter, 5-1 in his last six fights, has only lost to Errol Spence Jr (via split decision). But Crawford, a southpaw, can be very different from all of his past opponents. Thus, ‘Showtime’ will clearly have to bring in his best side and overpower Crawford from the initial rounds.

Amid all the stats, as Porter and Crawford are two of the pertinent figures of the 147 lbs top-tier slot, they are most likely to unveil a slugfest in the ring. And the outcome can help to craft several more welterweight matchups in the future.
