Edgar Berlanga missed a first-round KO once again. That said, he possibly entered the toughest test of his career against Marcelo Esteban Coceres on the undercard of Fury vs Wilder 3. The Puerto Rican Mike Tyson looked sharp from the very beginning. However, he suffered legitimate punishment from his experienced rival.

Nevertheless, Berlanga’s sheer progression and dominance earned him the win via UD with 96-93 in all three scorecards. Hence, he departed one of the grandest boxing stages of the year as an undefeated professional. Here’s a look at the fight.

The first round was close, yet entertaining. Berlanga planted his shots at the right time. However, he didn’t rush for the kill. The 24-year-old maintained a gap and attacked his opponent from various angles. Coceres couldn’t really offer much, as he appeared to be monitoring Berlanga’s power.

The aggression looked bigger in round two as Berlanga could hit his rival with some good blows. By the beginning of round two, Berlanga had 32 shots in his favor before Coceres’ 14. However, the young guns didn’t seem to care for numbers. Despite being aggressive, Edgar Berlanga also didn’t lose his technical essence.

His mead movements, jabs, and footwork looked on point. Hence, it fetched him pretty good results in the early stage of the fight, especially against a veteran opponent. While Marcelo Esteban Coceres fired back in round four, he wasn’t left free of heat. The Argentine star continued to contract blows and fell victim to a lopsided attack.

Berlanga saw some success in the first four rounds. He had staggered his rival, poleaxed him to an extent, and was already having an advantage on the scorecards. Meanwhile, round five called for more success. Berlanga displayed dirty intentions and appeared to be rushing for a stoppage at that time. Despite that, his execution remained flawless.

WBC champion Tyson Fury was on his way to the T-Mobile Arena when Berlanga vs Coceres became more prominent. Coceres planted a few good hooks and challenged Berlanga toe-to-toe. The fight took a different turn at that point.

Coceres landed big shots and knocked down Berlganga for the first time in round nine. It was shocking to see. Coceres shattered Berlganga even after that until the clock ended the round.

With 117 shots scored in 0:40 of round ten, Berlanga looked tired. He was defending himself and Coceres had sensed it. However, Berlanga seemed to have done enough and opted to play smart and take it to a decision.
