The newest ‘Big Deal’ in the boxing realm seems unstoppable. Curmel Moton, touted as the next Floyd Mayweather Jr. is raking up some major heat as he continues his training to be the next big name of the sport. In a recent training video, the way he’s developing his style gave a glimpse of a young Mayweather.

On March 30, the 17-year-old continued his impressive streak of wins. He defeated his 21-year-old opponent, Anthony Cuba on points in their Las Vegas showdown. The young fighter was expected to wrap up the fight in the first round like his previous two bouts. However, ‘2 Quick’ Cuba was resilient enough to pull through till the last gong went off. Learning from what went down in the ring that night, Moton has not wasted any time and has since, begun training for his next big challenge.

On his social media, the super featherweight fighter posted a video of his training with the mitts, hinting at his next fight. The video found its way into Fight Hype’s YouTube shorts, with the boxing insider comparing his quick jabs at the mitts to the acumen of a young ‘Pretty Boy’. In it, he can be seen responding to the rapid attacks from the mitts with his equally rapid, precision punches without leaving a second to respite.

Mayweather, in his early days to his prime, was infamous for such precision cuts. His punches found their mark with a level of accuracy that left his opponents puzzled and frustrated. This was coupled with his subtle shifts and strategic footwork adjustments, crafting a defense that was both elusive and formidable. Known as the Philly Shell Defence, his prowess was a blend of limiting vulnerabilities and exploiting counterattack opportunities.

Known as the protege of ‘Money’, Moton has trained under Mayweather from a very young age. The fighter on multiple occasions has revealed that his boxing style is heavily influenced by the style of Mayweather. Will such adaption give the 61-3, amateur record holder the glory of his mentor?

His early rise to fame and ranks has now earned him a top spot in boxing rankings.
