

Most of the world is looking down upon Caleb Plant ahead of his career-defining bout against Canelo Alvarez on November 6 for all four super-middleweight titles. However, ‘Sweethands’ is unfazed. Relying on his unbeaten tag and a loyal team, Plant is aiming to land one of the biggest upsets in boxing history this weekend.

The build-up has been quite tense as Alvarez’s fans have tried to get inside Plant’s head. After a heated face-off at the MGM Grand, Plant came across a mob of Alvarez loyalists and had a hard time. During his departure, Plant suffered ‘boos’ from the fans.
Umpteen fans threw slurs at the unbeaten world champion, urging Caleb Plant to fire back. While he didn’t do so verbally, ‘Sweethands’ offered them the finger.

A win against Canelo Alvarez will turn Caleb Plant into an instant superstar, as he will become only the second person after Floyd Mayweather to achieve this. This will clearly drive ‘Sweethands’ to push his limits.

Caleb Plant has faced no one like Alvarez before. On the flip side, Alvarez has shared the ring with some of the very best boxers of his era and has vanquished most of them. Hence, Plant, at least on paper, will not be his most challenging foe.
Canelo Alvarez is on a different level than Caleb Plant
After returning to action from a year-long layoff in December 2020, Alvarez quickly grabbed three of the super middleweight world titles. He beat two unbeaten champions in Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders within a span of six months. That’s not all. Alvarez also defended his WBC and WBA belt in between against Avni Yildirim.
