Former super lightweight champion, Regis Prograis, seems confident of beating Gervonta Davis if they ever cross paths. The two-division titleholder, Davis, will aim for the super lightweight title when he takes on Mario Barrios for the WBA (Regular) belt on June 26.

Hence, it might put ‘Tank’ against the other 140 lbs elites in the future and Prograis would clearly be a viable contender. That said ‘Rougarou’ doesn’t seem worried about Gervonta Davis’ arrival at light-welterweight because of the height disadvantage the latter may face. However, he backed him to beat Barrios.

In a chat with SNOWQUEENLA, Prograis said, “I really think that Tank is going to win that fight, you know. They picked the right person. I don’t really give too much to Barrios. He’s okay, don’t get me wrong. He was a champion, if you call him, but I don’t give him too much credit. I think Tank is gonna win, they got the perfect fight for him.”

Meanwhile, two undefeated fighters in Davis and Barrios can unleash a dominant fight. Although Gervonta Davis has appeared invincible, a new weight class and a new opposition might bring a lot of challenges for him. While several alluring matchups at 135 lbs are also on the line, Davis can’t afford to lose.

After knocking out Leo Santa Cruz for the WBA super featherweight belt in October 2020, boxing fans believed Davis would compete at 135 lbs. WBC Interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia also sparked a rivalry with him. However, it didn’t seem fruitful. Hence, ‘Tank’ went ahead with his plans to become a three-weight class champion.

The nearing fight might not be undemanding, but Davis will have his fair chances of winning. He is already regarded as a knockout elite with 23 KOs in 24 wins. Hence, Barrios will face some sheer viciousnesses when he goes against Gervonta Davis.
